WHEN CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY IS MORE THAN MERELY GIVING BACK
When we embarked on a heartfelt CSR journey to donate to the Compassionate Hands for The Disabled, one thing stood unchallenged-The fulfillment and the urge to keep going
We had the great privilege to visit the home with our team of representatives after hearing about the good work of the center through our colleague who had visited them before some years back
Compassionate Hands for the Disabled Foundation (CHDF) is a non-governmental organization that was started in 2008 as an outreach Centre in Korogocho slum, in Kenya for children with disabilities.
These were orphans and other vulnerable children from extremely poor families abandoned or orphaned through HIV/AIDS.
The center now serves 94 children with special needs that range from mental to physical disabilities.
They have a vision to Create Effective Structures That Empower Persons With Special Needs Towards Being Social-Economically Independent And To Minimize Discrimination By Creating Awareness In The Community.
As word spreads about the work of the centre, numbers of children seeking support are increasing year on year.
It was an amazing & unforgettable experience getting to spend time, play and share gifts with the beautiful angels of CHFD and the kind souls who dedicate their time and effort towards the welfare of the children.
The gratitude from the children and the caregivers is great fuel for the continuity of the journey to reach out to those that need our support in the society.
“Love and compassion are necessities not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive. – Dalai Lama “
